Great news! 1st Herne Bay Scout Group has officially been awarded £700 from the Local Council Biodiversity Grant.
We’ll be using the funding at our Arkley Road Headquarters to transform our outdoor grounds into a Forest School-inspired ecosystem classroom. The plan includes:
- Creating a Hedgehog Highway with dedicated shelters
- Installing a micro-wetland container pond and vertical living wall
- Adding a weatherproof trail camera so our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and Explorers can track local wildlife for their conservation badges
- Installing Bat and swift boxes on the roof
- Building an outdoor science area and bug habitat for learning
